Mulugu:  A 12-year-old differently-abled girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Bandarupally village under Venkatapur mandal in the district. Though the incident took place a couple of days ago, it came to light on Thursday when the parents of the girl approached the police to lodge a complaint.

Sources said the girl, a native of Venkatpur, was working with her parents in a brick kiln unit at Bandarupally. The suspect, aged 16, who also works in the same unit, committed the heinous crime. Mulugu SI Omkar Yadav said they had booked a case against the suspect under POCSO Act and SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act as the girl belonged to the SC community based on the complaint lodged by the parents.
