13 international passengers from ‘at-risk’ countries test positive for Covid-19 in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A total of 13 international passengers from at-risk countries who had arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, in the past two days have tested Covid-19 positive.

The Covid positive passengers have been shifted to Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Gachibowli and their blood samples have been sent for full genome sequencing to ascertain Delta or Omicron variant.


On Friday, about 219 passengers from at-risk countries arrived at the airport out of which nine tested positive. Overall, since the screening of international passengers from at-risk countries following MOHFW guidelines started on December 1, a total of 909 passengers were screened at the airport here out of which 13 have tested Covid-19 positive.

Director of Public Health (DPH), Dr G Srinivasa Rao in the health bulletin on Friday said that authorities were yet to receive the genome sequencing reports from the laboratories.
