14-year-old boy drowns in tank in Adilabad

A 14-year-old boy drowned while swimming in a tank in Utnoor, Adilabad. Friends failed to inform anyone out of fear. His body was found two days later by local residents

Adilabad: A 14-year-old boy drowned in a tank near the Horticulture Department office in Utnoor mandal headquarters on Monday.

Police said Chandu, a Class X student, had gone swimming in the tank with his friends on Saturday when the incident occurred. While Chandu met a watery grave, his friends did not inform anyone, including his parents, fearing they might get into trouble.

His father, Suresh, searched for him late into Saturday evening but could not trace him. Hoping his son would return the next day, he waited. However, on Monday afternoon, locals spotted Chandu’s body floating in the tank and informed the family.
