151 trainees to take part in SVPNPA Dikshant Parade on October 17
The SVPNPA Dikshant Parade on October 17 will feature 151 officer trainees, including 135 IPS probationers and 16 foreign officers. Their training covers traditional policing, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, public safety, disaster management and practical field experience.
HYDERABAD: A total of 151 officer trainees, including 135 IPS probationers and 16 foreign officers, will participate in the Dikshant Parade at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on October 17.
The Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan will be the chief guest at the ceremony. The batch comprises 37 women officers, while the foreign trainees are from Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.
Academy Director Sujeet Pandey said the training programme places emphasis on public safety, protection of vulnerable sections, and ensuring that policing remains sensitive to citizens’ rights and needs. Along with traditional policing, trainees are being prepared to tackle emerging challenges through specialised modules on cybercrime, financial fraud, cryptocurrency, darknet operations, drug trafficking, drone threats and Artificial Intelligence.
Training has been strengthened in machine learning, cybersecurity and big data analytics, besides incorporating media management and communication skills. Fire safety and disaster management have also been included in training, he said.
The IPS probationers joined the academy after completing their 15-week Foundation Course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie. Their 49-week Phase-I training covers criminal laws, investigation, forensic science, internal security, public order, criminology, police management and human rights, along with physical fitness, weapons training, drill, yoga and field tactics.
The training combines classroom instruction with practical exposure through police station visits, crowd management and specialised training with Telangana’s Greyhounds, the ITBP and the BSF. The probationers will proceed to Delhi for a four-week attachment with Central Police Organisations and Central Armed Police Forces, including exposure to the CRPF and the Indian Army.
They will subsequently undergo 29 weeks of district practical training in their respective cadres or States before returning to the academy on June 21, 2027, for a nine-week Phase-II programme.
