Hyderabad: Health Minister T Harish Rao said 15th Finance Commission appreciated State Government’s move to set up Basti Dawakhanas through which free medicines and consultation was being extended to the urban poor.
At present, 259 Basti Dawakhanas were being operated in GHMC limits and 91 more clinics would be launched soon. So far, over 81 lakh people had benefited through the services delivered at Basti Dawakhanas, he said during question hour in the Assembly here on Monday.
As the move to set up Basti Dawakhanas was yielding good results, the State Government was now working on to establish these clinics in other districts as well, he said while replying to TRS legislator KP Vivekanand.
When TRS legislators Bigala Ganesh, Aroori Ramesh and Congress legislator T Jagga Reddy appealed to set up Basti Dawakhanas in Nizamabad, Warangal and Sanga Reddy respectively, the Minister responded positively.
