Karimnagar: A 16-year-old boy drowned in a tank in Bijigiri Sharif Dargah on Tuesday evening.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Mahmood (16), a shopkeeper and the resident of Karimnagar. On Tuesday, the victim and four of his friends attended ‘Kandur’ at a dargah. After attending the function, they went for a swim in the temple tank. Since he didn’t know swimming he drowned in the tank.
His friends informed the temple committee members and village sarpanch, who alerted the police. Though the police searched for the body, they failed to retrieve it in the night. Police again started search operations on Wednesday morning.
