Mulugu: District Collector S Krishna Aditya directed the officials concerned to take all steps for the smooth purchase of the paddy crop at 165 centres to be set up in the district for this Vaanakalam season.
Speaking at a review meeting held with the officials of District Cooperation Department, Tribal Corporation Department, Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP) and millers at the district collectorate here on Friday, he said that they were going to set up 165 purchasing centres in the district through different agencies (PACS- 98 centres, GCC- 39 and IKP- 28), and asked them to first set up 10 centres in Eturungaram and Mangapeta mandals.
He asked the officials to ensure the availability of the tarpaulins at the centres for the benefit of the farmers in case of surprise showers. When the rice millers had objected to the purchase of ‘1001’ variety of paddy grain, he said that they would take test samples from three mills and submit a report to the government to take a final call on it.
The District Collector said that they would take the issues of the millers to the notice of the government, and asked them not to cause any trouble to the farmers. DRO Rama Devi, District Civil Supplies Officer (DCO) Arvind Reddy and other officers attended the meeting.
