19 Maoists surrender to police in Kothagudem
Regular community policing programmes by the district police and development activities taken up by the State government convinced them to surrender to the police, Dutt said.
19 militia members and village committee members of CPI (Maoist) Party surrendered before police in Kothagudem on Tuesday.
Kothagudem: As many as 19 militia members and village committee members of outlawed CPI (Maoist) Party, including three women militia members, surrendered before Superintendent of Police (SP), Sunil Dutt here on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, the SP informed that the surrendered militia members and village committee members belong to Puligundala and Bakkachintalapadu of Cherla mandal and Mulakanapalli of Dummugudem mandal.
They were working for the Maoist Cherla Area Committee. Regular community policing programmes by the district police and development activities taken up by the State government convinced them to surrender to the police, Dutt said.
Telangana government has been implementing various development works for the well being of the tribals in Maoist affected areas, he said while appealing to Maoist party leaders, members and militia members to surrender to police to live a better life.
Additional SP, V Tirupathi, Bhadrachalam ASP, Dr. Vineeth G, 141 Bn CRPF Commandant, Pramod Pawar, Cherla CI, Boddu Ashok, Dummugudem CI, Nalagatla Venkateshwarlu and others were present. The SP handed over immediate relief to the surrendered Maoists.
