Eyewitnesses said flames and smoke also spread to the staircase adjacent to the showroom, preventing residents living on the upper floors from escaping.
Hearing cries for help, residents of a neighbouring multi-storey building came forward.
They asked the affected residents to move to the rooftop and then created a temporary escape route by connecting ladders between the two buildings, eyewitnesses said.
Some persons crossed over to the terrace of the neighbouring building using the ladders, while others were brought down safely with the help of ropes, they said.
Fire department sub-inspector Baljit Hooda told PTI that the blaze had been brought under control and no one was injured in the incident.
He did not disclose the name of the company that owned the EV showroom-cum-repair centre.
Hooda said an investigation was underway to ascertain the cause of the fire and assess the exact extent of damage.
