21-year-old nurse found dead in hospital quarters in Hyderabad, murder suspected

HYDERABAD: A 21-year-old woman working as a nurse at a private hospital was found dead under suspicious circumstances at the hospital quarters in Pahadishareef police station. Police suspect that she may have been murdered.
According to Pahadishareef Inspector Lakshminarayana Reddy, the victim, a native of Khammam district, had been working as a nurse at a private hospital for the past eight months and was residing in the quarters provided by the hospital.
Sirisha reportedly went into her room around 10 pm on Friday and did not come out until Saturday afternoon. When hospital staff noticed that she was not responding to their calls, they broke open a window and found her dead inside the room.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and examined the scene. Police found injuries on Sirisha’s face, raising suspicion that she had been attacked and killed.
Clues teams and a dog squad were pressed into service to collect evidence and samples from the scene. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
Meanwhile, tension prevailed at Osmania General Hospital on Sunday afternoon when BJP workers staged a dharna, demanding that the police conduct a thorough investigation into the death and ensure justice for the victim.
The protesters called for the police to thoroughly investigate the circumstances leading to Sirisha’s death and take stringent action against those responsible. The police had beefed up security at the OGH mortuary.
