Hyderabad: A 21-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the Hyderabad Cybercrime police on Monday on charges of cheating a woman of Rs 10.69 lakh after promising to marry her.

Mohd Hasim (21) of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh had contacted the victim after seeing her profile on a matrimonial website. The man introduced himself as a UK national and later claimed to have sent a gift parcel for her. Another person later called the victim over phone, posing as airport officials and collected Rs 10.69 lakh towards various charges including customs, GST etc.,

Based on the victim’s complaint, the police registered a case and arrested Hasim.
