22 hospitals get UV-C disinfection chambers in Telangana

Hyderabad: Signify Innovations India Limited has partnered with Disha Foundation to enhance the personal safety of frontline Covid warriors in Telangana using UV-C Lighting. Under this initiative, the company is installing 44 of its UV-C Disinfection Chambers across 22 hospitals in the State.
Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (TIMS) Director, Dr Vimala Thomas, commenced the initiative in Hyderabad at the prestigious institute on Tuesday. Similarly, UV-C Disinfection Chambers were installed at the District Hospital, Sircilla and Government General Hospital, Nizamabad as well.
These chambers use UV-C technology to disinfect the surfaces of high touch objects such as visitor tags, phones, bags, laptops, wallets, glasses etc., in a matter of minutes depending on the size of the object. The technology used in these chambers has been tested at National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEILD), Boston University and the laboratory of Department of Materials Engineering at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to effectively deactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19, a press release said.
