Kothagudem: Police seized ganja worth Rs 44 lakh and arrested two persons at Chinna Nallabelli village of Dummugudem mandal in the district on Tuesday.
Bhadrachalam ASP, B Rohith Raj in a statement informed that the local Inspector of Police M Ravi Kumar and staff along with CRPF personnel while conducting vehicle inspections at the village found a car without vehicle registration plate coming from Bhadrachalam.
Upon inspecting the car the police found 220 kg ganja in the car and arrested two persons, Siddanth Dole and Amol Gorde of Aurangabad in Maharashtra. They along with three others, Sandeep Sajthe, Kailash Moge and Datta Gorde purchased the substance on Andhra-Odisha borders and were smuggling it to Maharashtra.
The arrested were produced before the court while the three others have escaped, the ASP said.
