Wanaparthy: Health Minister T Harish Rao said the Government was constructing 23 maternity hospitals at a cost of Rs 407 crore and maternity wards were being constructed with Rs 30 crore across the State.
The Minister along with Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy inaugurated a mother and child health centre constructed with a cost of Rs 17 crore here on Tuesday.
Addressing on the occasion, the Health Minister said since the launch of KCR kits distribution programme, there was 54 per cent increase in deliveries in government hospitals. The State has emerged as the best in the healthcare sector in the country, he said.
According top priority to childcare, the Government has increased the SNCU centres in the State to 65 during the last seven years, the Minister said.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision and effective implementation of the initiatives taken up by government has aided in bringing down the infant mortality rate from 25 per cent to 16 per cent, while, the national average of infant mortality rate was 22 per cent, he said.
Pointing out that erstwhile Mahabubnagar’s development had taken a back seat that during Congress and TDP government’s regime, the Health Minister said TRS government was working on comprehensive development of the district, besides ensuring supply of sufficient water to the farming community.
Harish Rao said in the past, there were no ICU or dialysis centres in erstwhile Mahabubnagar. The State government had set up five dialysis centres. In addition to these, three medical colleges were sanctioned at a total cost of about Rs.1,500 crore.
“Classes will commence at Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool colleges from the next academic year,” said Harish Rao.
The Minister further pointed out that in the recent report released by Niti Ayog, Telangana ranks third after Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the health sector. However, BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh was ranked last in the Niti Ayog report, he said.
“BJP leaders confine themselves to making statements but TRS government fulfills promises,” Harish Rao said.
Regarding the ongoing fever survey, the Minister said 1.27 crore home isolation kits were distributed so far and over 2 crore testing kits were arranged. “Without waiting for test results, people should start medication if symptoms persist,” said Harish Rao.
He expressed happiness on the rapid development of Wanaparthy district. There are many challenges in road widening projects. It took 1.5 years for widening the Subhash Road in Siddipet, he said. Lot of hard work has to be done to execute six roads projects of four-lane carriageway in Wanaparthy.
Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said due to constant support of the Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Wanaparthy was witnessing comprehensive development, besides turning fertile.
“There is no dearth of water for agriculture sector for the next 100 years,” said Niranjan Reddy.
