28.163 kg ganja seized in Malkajgiri, three arrested

Prohibition and Excise Department officials seized 28.163 kg of ganja in two separate cases in Hyderabad and arrested three persons. The accused allegedly transported the contraband from Visakhapatnam, with the seized ganja estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh.

Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise Department sleuths seized 28.163 kg of ganja in two separate cases and arrested three persons who were allegedly transporting the contraband from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad.

In the first case, a team seized 7.163 kg of ganja at the RK Nagar auto stand area in Malkajgiri and arrested Bappa, a native of West Bengal.

In the other case, another team seized 21 kg of ganja from two women who had allegedly transported the contraband by train from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad. The suspects were identified as Hindu Rani and Rajammal Panchagam, both natives of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.

The seized ganja in the two cases was estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh. Cases are booked against the ganja transporters.
