28 held for cockfights in Mancherial

28 held for cockfights in Mancherial

Mancherial: In a joint operation by the sleuths of a task force and Kotapalli police, 28 persons were arrested for allegedly indulging in banned cockfights in the forests near Babberachelka and Devulavada villages in Kotapalli mandal on Saturday. The arrested belong to Mancherial, Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Jagitial districts. A total of 26 mobile phones, seven cars, five knives and cash Rs 1.51 lakh seized from them.

Task force Inspector AK Mahender said that the accused were identified as Mohammad Abbu, Bollapalli Nagarjuna, Kukkisha Rasad, Sidam Balaiah, Kedika Satheesh, Bommena Mallesh, Akkala Sattaiah, Tulasigari Narasimhulu, Md Afroz, Md Firoz, Kankanala Sattaiah, Gajula Tirupathi, Tekam Madhav Rao, Ponnaveni Venkataswamy, Sangapalli Venkati, Alugunuri Bhanuchandar, Pullakola Shivateja, Namalikonda Venkatesh, Medi Ravi, Mukkidi Naresh and Namilikonda Rajasekhar, all residents of several parts of Mancherial district.


Arepalli Prabhakar was a resident of Dahegaon mandal and Dharavath Rohit of Salgupalli in Bejjur mandal in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, while Tipparthi Ramakrishna, Purella Kanakaiah, Ojje Shankar, Doma Sadhi, Purella Praveen and Ojje Shankar belonged to different parts of Jagtial district.

Shifting venues to hoodwink cops
The accused were found to be indulging in the offence when the police conducted raids on the spot, following a tip. They confessed to committing crime by shifting venues at regular intervals to hoodwink policemen. Task Force Sub-Inspector Lachanna, staffers Sampath Kumar, Baskar Goud, Srinivas, Rakesh, and Shyamsundar took part in the operation.
