Hyderabad: Directed by Christopher Nolan, Interstellar is an epic science fiction drama film released in 2014. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, and Michael Caine.
Originally scheduled for a re-release in December 2024, the film’s return to theaters was postponed and it hit the screens on February 7. Shot on 35mm film in the Panavision anamorphic format and IMAX 70mm, this masterpiece truly deserves to be experienced on the big screen, especially in IMAX.
“As everyone already knows, IMAX isn’t available. The 70mm typical aspect ratio projection at Prasad’s large screen makes the experience suboptimal. Of course, the nostalgia factor is different altogether. But a 70mm 4K laser on a screen that fits the resolution is better than a scaled resolution on an IMAX-purposed screen,” a user shared in a post on Reddit.
“Here’s a comparison of screen sizes of different IMAXs and PCXs. Currently, there is no IMAX in either of the Telugu states, so there is no option to watch Interstellar in a 70mm 1.43:1 ratio. I agree with the scope vs. flat ratio argument, but we don’t have a choice. Instead of those Cinepolis/PVR/INOX home theater screens, PCX is by far more reasonable with a great Dolby audio system at the same price,” another Reddit user commented.
“I watched the movie at Prasad’s PCX today. I was seated in row ‘G’ and, while I was a bit close to the screen, oh boy, the audio and bass were incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie,” said another user in a Reddit post.
