35-member SWAT deployed after two months of specialised training in Israeli martial art
The SWAT personnel whose primary objective is to effectively manage women protesters during dharnas, rallies, and other public gatherings were officially inducted on June 3 and was first deployed for duty at the Telangana Secretariat on July 4
The SWAT comprises 35 women police officers who have undergone specialised training in Krav Maga, a self-defence system developed in Israel.
Hyderabad: In a first of its kind, the Hyderabad Police have launched the Swift Women Action Team (SWAT). This team comprises 35 women police officers who have undergone specialised training in Krav Maga, a self-defence system developed in Israel, emphasising practical techniques for real-world situations and unarmed combat.
Following two months of intensive training, the SWAT personnel were officially inducted on June 3. The team, donning their new uniforms, was first deployed for duty at the Telangana Secretariat on July 4.
The primary objective of SWAT is to effectively manage women protesters during dharnas, rallies, and other public gatherings. They will also be deployed during significant events and festivals across the city.
The SWAT team is expected to be highly beneficial for the Hyderabad Police in controlling women within crowds during protests and rallies.
