Hyderabad: To spread awareness on precautions and management of chronic kidney ailments on the occasion of World Kidney Day on Thursday, Gleneagles Global Hospitals organised a 3K walk from Lakdikapul to Khairatabad cross roads on Thursday.

Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, Anjani Kumar, who flagged off the walkathon along with other senior doctors, said that it was important for general public to be well-informed on the importance of prevention of kidney ailments.

Being diagnosed with kidney disease can be a huge challenge, both for the patient and those people around them. Hence, the kidney disease management and treatment aim are to prolong longevity by preserving, restoring, or substituting kidney functions and delivering relief from kidney problems regardless of the efficacy for overall ailment management, doctors said.

This year’s World Kidney Day is being observed with the theme ‘Living Well with Kidney Disease’. Incharge of Jeevandan and senior nephrologist from NIMS, Dr G Swarnalatha, senior nephrologist from Global Hospitals, Dr Gandhe Sridhar and hospital COO, Dr Marvin Leo were also present.
