40 sheep die in suspected Hyena attack in Telangana’s Siddipet district

Though repeated attacks on sheep were reported in different villages in Chinna Kodur mandal during the past year, the forest officials have not been able to trap the wild animal

Siddipet: As many as 40 sheep were killed in a suspected Hyena attack at Machapur village in Chinnakodur mandal on Thursday night.

The shepherd, Mallaiah, kept his sheep in a shed on the outskirts of the village. When he returned on Friday morning, he found 40 of them dead with multiple injuries on their bodies. Many others sustained injuries.

Though repeated attacks on sheep were reported in different villages in Chinna Kodur mandal during the past year, the forest officials have not been able to trap the wild animal.

MPP Manik Reddy urged the government to extend financial support to the farmer as he had suffered more than Rs 4 lakh loss with the attack. The forest officials were examining the pugmarks of the wild animals.
