40 Years of serving detox drinks to Hyderabad’s morning walkers
A modest juice stall near Public Gardens in Nampally, serving health drinks since 1987, has gone viral after an Instagram reel. The stall, run without advertising or branding, now attracts new visitors for its traditional wellness drinks priced at Rs 30.
Hyderabad: For nearly four decades, a small stall near the Public Gardens, opposite the museum in Nampally has quietly been serving health drinks to morning walkers, joggers and fitness enthusiasts.
Run by a man fondly referred to by regulars as ‘uncle’ or ‘mama ji’, the stall has been around since 1987 and continues to function without any banners, advertisements or even an online presence.
But recently, the stall has suddenly found itself in the spotlight after Hyderabad-based foodie traveller Syed Owais featured it in a viral Instagram reel. Since then, curious visitors from across the city have been stopping by to try the drinks that regular customers have sworn by for years.
The stall offers a range of traditional detox and wellness drinks priced at just Rs 30 per cup. Some of the popular options include karela, tomato and cucumber juice believed to help with sugar control, tulsi-ajwain for cold and cough, curry leaves juice for blood pressure, jeera-pudina for digestion and urinary infections, and white radish juice for kidney stones. There is also kachi haldi and ginger juice, along with lemon ginger and other seasonal combinations.
The vendor says warm drinks should ideally be consumed before walks, while cold drinks are best to have afterwards. Open daily from 7 am to 9 am, the stall proves that sometimes word-of-mouth and genuine trust are all a business needs to thrive.
