460 kg of ganja seized, 7 arrested in Nalgonda
Ganja seized by task force police of Nalgonda by arresting seven persons at Gundrampally of Chityal mandal in Nalgonda district on Tuesday.

Nalgonda: In a joint operation, Task Force police and Chityal police on Tuesday arrested seven persons at a dhaba hotel at Gundrampally in Chityal mandal and seized 460 kg of ganja and Rs 4 lakh cash from their possession.

The arrested were identified as Pabbala Surya Prakash(25), native of Yacharam in Ranga Reddy district, Banothu Ramesh(32), resident of Towlichowk in Hyderabad, Banothu Shanthi Kumar(40) and Banothu Venkat(33), Angira village in Sanga Reddy district, Andepundalik (43), surpanch of Angira village, Rahul Gudse(33), native of Gopalpur in Maharashtra, Akshai Sanjay Babar(22), resident of Pundaripur in Maharshtra. Another two persons, who have links with the illegal ganja transportation, Venkatanarayana, native of Thurkayamjal in Hyderabad and Sathi Babu, who was resident of Badrachalam were on abscond. They formed as a group to do illegal ganja business to make money.


Producing the arrested before the media in the District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeshwari said that on the credible information, the sleuths of Task Force and Chityal police jointly carried out an operation and arrested seven persons, who came to a place near a daba hotel at Gundrampally to receive 460 kgs of ganja, which was brought from Malkajgiri in Odisha.

When Banoth Ramesh approached him for work, Venkatanarayana made it clear that he would provide a work, if he came with a car. Venkatanarayana asked Ramesh to meet Sathi Babu at Bhadrachalam and bring some goods in the car. Sathi Babu and Ramesh went to Malkajgiri in Odisha and purchased 260 kgs of ganja from a person there. In the return to Hyderabad, Sathi Babu was dropped off at Bhadrachalam. As per the plan, six members of the gang reached a place at Gundrampally to receive the ganja brought by Ramesh.

He said that special team was set up to arrested the two accused on absconding. After examining the criminal record, we would take a decision to invoke PD Act on them, she added.
