50-year-old woman killed in lightning strike in Adilabad

Locals and eyewitnesses said that Kalimi Nagamma from Nipani village fell unconscious after being struck by lightning.

Adilabad: A 50-year-old woman was struck dead by lightning when she was waiting under a tree near a bus shelter at Laxmipur village in Bheempur mandal on Tuesday evening.

Locals and eyewitnesses said that Kalimi Nagamma from Nipani village fell unconscious after being struck by lightning. She was rushed to RIMS-Adilabad where she died while undergoing treatment.

Nagamamma, along with some other women, was returning to Nipani after attending the funeral of her aunt at Laxmipur at the time of the incident. She took cover under the tree, while the others went inside the bus shelter when the village saw a brief spell of heavy rain coupled with strong gales. She is survived by her husband and two sons.
