Hyderabad: A survey conducted in the city by Hyderabad Management Association (HMA), a city-based association of management professionals and academics, on the anticipated Covid vaccination, found that 51 per cent of the respondents will vaccinate themselves voluntarily, as soon as the vaccine is available for the general public.
There is a combination of excitement and caution about the vaccination among 75 per cent of the respondents, the survey revealed. The HMA survey suggests that the while hesitancy for the vaccine has moderately reduced in comparison to surveys held earlier, 28 per cent of the 270 respondents still feel that they need to wait for at least three months to assess the efficacy of the vaccination.
Surprisingly, close to five per cent of the respondents answered that they would never get themselves vaccinated while the rest want to wait for a year to assess the efficacy.
While 83 per cent of the respondents felt that the onus lies on the government to make the vaccine mandatory, 39 per cent holds the opinion that the vaccine should be made available for free by the government. A similar number of people felt that they are comfortable if the vaccine costs less than Rs 500.
