Kothagudem: Police seized dry ganja weighing around 524.4 kg and arrested two Rajasthani drivers at Housing Board Colony here on Thursday.
DSP G Venkateshwara Babu speaking to press persons at Chunchupalli police station in Kothagudem said the seized ganja was worth around Rs 1.04 crore. A lorry transporting the substance was also seized along with two mobile phones.
The accused were identified as Narayana Teli and Bairulal Gurjar of Bhilwara district in Rajasthan. Three persons, Puram Gurjar and Rayees Khan of Bhilwara and Mukesh of Odisha, connected with ganja smuggling, were absconding, the DSP said.
According to him, the two drivers confessed to have bought the ganja from a supplier Mukesh at Chitrakonda in Odisha and hid it beneath a load of tamarind they earlier bought at Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh. The substance was being smuggled to Bhilwara.
