Hyderabad: As many as 5,399 government and local body primary schools across the State will get facelift as part of the first phase of the Mana Ooru – Mana Badi/ Mana Basti – Mana Badi, a flagship programme of the State government for comprehensive development and strengthening of infrastructure facilities in government and local body schools.
Of the total 9,123 schools that will be revamped in the first phase, 5,399 are primary schools, 1,009 are upper primary schools and 2,715 are high schools across the State. At 517, Nalgonda district has the highest number of schools that have been selected under the first phase of the programme.
Overall, 26,065 schools including 18,240 primary, 3,164 upper primary and 4,661 high schools across the State will get make over in a phased manner over a period of three years from the year 2021-22 at an estimated cost of Rs.7,289.54 crore.
The schools will be revamped under 12 approved components including toilets with running water facility, electrification, drinking water supply, furniture to students and staff, painting, major and minor repairs, green chalk boards, compound walls, kitchen sheds, new classrooms in place of dilapidated rooms, dining halls in high schools, and implementation of digital education.
