Warangal Urban: While a total of 1,765 nominations were filed for the 66 wards for Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) general election, the election authorities rejected 55 nominations due to lapses in documents and for other reasons during scrutiny here on Monday.
Following this, the total number of valid nominations with the election commission officials are 1710, and a total of the 1066 members filed these nominations. It may be mentioned here that there was heavy competition for TRS tickets as a total of 688 candidates from the ruling TRS filed the nominations. On other hand, 410 independents filed the nominations. 286 BJP activists and 240 candidates expecting the Congress tickets filed the nominations.
