Karimnagar: A total of 61 candidates have filed their nominations for the Huzurabad by-polls. As of Friday night, the Returning Officer has received 92 sets of nominations from the contesting candidates. The nomination process, which started on October 1, witnessed heavy turnout on the last day. Since Friday was the last day to file nominations as well as it being an auspicious day, the aspirants turned up in large numbers. Up to October 7, the Returning Officer received nominations from only 15 candidates. However, 46 aspirants submitted their nominations on Friday alone.
Candidates representing all major political parties including TRS, BJP, Congress and some unrecognized parties have filed several nominations. While TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav, BJP aspirant Eatala Rajender and his wife Jamuna filed four sets of nominations, Congress aspirant Balmuri Venkat Narsinmha Rao submitted three sets.
