Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar informed that a total of 6,540 paddy purchase centers would be set up across the State to procure paddy. Out of the 6,540, 762 centers have already started and purchased two lakh metric tons of paddy so far. The Minister inaugurated paddy purchasing centers in Durshed, Nagunoor and Kothapalli villages on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, he promised to purchase each and every grain produced by the farmers and appealed to the farming community to bring crops to PCCs according to dates allocated by the officials to avoid confusion. Asking farmers not to believe in rumors, he said farmers need not worry about gunny bags since the government has taken steps to arrange them. Arrangements were also made to transport paddy to rice mills after the completion of procurement process, he added.
Kamalakar wanted the FCI to purchase the crop produced by the farmers in the Yasangi season unconditionally. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar should bring pressure on the Central government to procure the crop, he said and added that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has already taken steps to mount pressure on the Union Government in this regard.
Informing that procurement of paddy has picked up momentum in the State, he said farmers were completing the harvest process on fast track. The State government has taken all measures to procure the crop, he said and informed that instructions were also passed to officials to make all necessary arrangements in purchasing centers for the convenience of farmers. Paddy production in the State has been increased following the supply of Kaleshwaram water, 24 hours free power supply, and Rythu Bandhu. Though Telangana is a small State, it has reached a position to supply the food to the entire nation, he informed.
Making farmers rich is the main aim of the State government. For this purpose, a slew of welfare schemes are been implemented in the State, he said.
