Hyderabad: Health Minister T Harish Rao said Telangana’s Covid vaccination rate was higher than the national vaccination rate.
Till Wednesday, 84.3 per cent population was administered first dose of Covid vaccine in the State and 38.5 per cent population was covered with second dose.
This is higher than national average as 79 per cent population was covered with first dose of vaccination and 37.5 per cent with second dose, he said.
During a meeting with medical and health officials here on Thursday, the Minister declared that in the wake of declining Covid cases, regular services would be commenced at King Koti district hospital.
At TIMS Hospital, 200 beds would be reserved for Covid treatment and the rest would be used for regular medical services. All the pending salaries to TIMS Hospital staff would be paid, besides all the arrears to the hospital management would be cleared, he said.
The Minister also reviewed Covid-related issues, establishing new medical colleges, construction of new multi-specialty hospitals, including the multi-super specialty hospital at Warangal.
He directed the officials to expedite vaccination exercise and wanted a conference to be convened with all district Collectors and District Medical and Health Officers in this regard on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, Harish Rao participated in a video conference with Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and briefed him about the Covid prevalence in the State, besides vaccination exercise.
