92-year-old woman casts her ballot in Jubilee Hills bypolls

At 92, Lakshmi Devamma from Vengal Rao Nagar exemplified democratic commitment by voting in the Jubilee Hills by-election despite poor health. Assisted by polling staff with a wheelchair, her determination inspired others to fulfill their civic duty

Hyderabad: At the age of 92, Lakshmi Devamma has set a shining example of democratic spirit in the Jubilee Hills by-election. Despite her fragile health and limited mobility, the nonagenarian ensured she exercised her right to vote on Tuesday.

A resident of Vengal Rao Nagar division in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency, Devamma arrived at the polling station by car with her family members to vote around noon.


On noticing her condition, the polling booth staff assisted her by providing a wheelchair and helping her cast her vote comfortably.

Her determination to participate in the electoral process at her advanced age and time when her health was not permitting stood as an inspiring example of the duty of every citizen in a democracy.
