Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister, Gangula Kamalakar informed that recovery percentage of Covid-19 cases in the district is in between 98 to 99 per cent. It materialized with the cooperation of MLAs, public representatives and government officials.

Speaking after inaugurating a liquid oxygen plant in district headquarters hospital here on Saturday, he appreciated medical staff for providing treatment to patients perfectly. People tested positive for the virus have been provided treatment by isolating them in their houses. It has yielded good results. Only one per cent of people suffering from other chronic diseases died, he said. Asking the people not to neglect Covid-19, he advised the people having symptoms to undergo testing either at the district headquarters hospital or primary health centers (PHCc).

In order to provide oxygen facility to corona patients, a liquid oxygen plant was established at a cost of Rs 85 lakh in district headquarters hospital. 400 beds in the hospital would get the oxygen facility. Per day, it was possible to supply oxygen to 2,630 since the capacity of the plant is 21,000 liter. There would not be any shortage for oxygen in the next 20 years. After Hyderabad, Karimnagar was the second in the state, to have an oxygen plant, he informed.

Talking about facilities in government hospitals, the Minister informed that confidence among the public on government hospitals has been enhanced after formation of Telangana state. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has taken a number of measures to enhance infrastructure, staff and other facilities in government hospitals. As a result, government hospitals were working better than that of private nursing homes. Moreover, the number of deliveries in government hospitals has been increased with the launch of KCR kit scheme. Earlier, not satisfied with treatment provided in government hospitals, people used to spend huge amounts for treatment in private hospitals.

However, the situation has changed after the formation of the Telangana government. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kanumalla Vijaya, Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Choppadandi MLA Sunke Ravishankar, Collector K Shashanka and others participated in the programme.
