Hyderabad: The city saw around 400 cyclists flooding through its roads with a motive of making space for these peddlers on roads that are filled with motorists.
While displaying placards, these cyclists were seen spreading awareness about the increasing number of accidents on roads because of motorists turning a blind eye to the cyclists in the city.
“Don’t come too close to a cyclist”, “No more accidents for cyclists”, “Stay in your lane”, were some of the slogans carried by the cyclists during the #HyderabadCyclingRevolution rally in the city.
“It was surely a super successful event. There was a very high positive energy from across cycling communities in the city. Appropriate messages were conveyed and I hope we can get a separate cycling lane on the roads throughout the city,” shares Santhana Selvan, the Bicycle Mayor of Hyderabad, adding, “Overall, it is a good start for a cycling ecosystem in the city.”
The cycling communities also extended their gratitude to the Hyderabad Police and Traffic officials for their cooperation during the event and for the smooth processing of permissions.
The cyclists closed the event by taking a group picture with Charminar monument as the backdrop while making it a mark for cycling enthusiasts in the city to come out and start peddling without any fear.
