Hyderabad: Hyderabad chess player Y Abhigyan, who emerged champion in the under-10 category in the international chess tournament conducted by America Chess Club Academy on July 20 on the occasion of International Chess Day, received his trophy from the United States of America on Tuesday.
The Telangana boy took the top place with impressive performances in the under-10 category.
The Class V student from Indus Universal School started playing chess less than 10 months ago but he made rapid strides in a short time.
Abhigyan also impressed everyone when he won second place in the Brilliant Chess tournament recently. Abhigyan revealed that his mother Sharada encouraged him to play chess and supported him in winning the title.
