Karimnagar: ABVP activists on Wednesday attempted to attack the residence of Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar in Karimnagar, protesting against the State government’s alleged indifference in releasing fee reimbursement funds.
Police foiled the attempt as a group of activists tried to rush towards the Minister’s residence at Mankammathota. Barricades were already placed in the area to block their approach, and police managed to prevent them from entering the premises.
The agitating student union members were taken into custody and shifted to the police station after being forcibly moved into police vehicles.
Speaking at the protest, ABVP leaders alleged that the government and Ministers were showing no concern for students who were suffering due to the delay in fee reimbursement. They demanded the immediate release of the pending amounts to safeguard students’ interests.
