Karimnagar: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths arrested Karimnagar Prohibition and Excise Urban Circle Inspector Gundeti Ramu and government teacher Jakkani Venu in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

According to ACB officials, while working in Vemulawada, Ramu reportedly accepted bribes from a jaggery trader on several occasions between 2022 and 2024, with the assistance of Venu, who works at a government school in Obulapur in Mallial mandal of Jagtial district. Venu allegedly collected the money from the trader and transferred it to Ramu’s and his father’s bank accounts through the UPI payment system, using his own SBI and UBI bank accounts. Following the inquiry, ACB officials conducted a search at Ramu’s residence on Tuesday night and recovered Rs 20 lakh in unaccounted cash.

Both Ramu and Venu were taken into custody and produced before a court.
