Khammam: ACB sleuths arrested a senior accountant working at the district treasury office in Khammam for demanding a bribe from a deceased pensioner’s wife.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Khammam range DSP Y Ramesh informed that a pensioner, Mallaiah, who worked as an attender at the Sublaidu primary health centre in the district died one year ago. His wife approached the treasury office seeking to prepare a bill and clear a pension amount of Rs 4 lakh.
However, the accused, K Nagesh, demanded Rs 40,000, which was 10 percent of the pension amount, as bribe to clear the bill.
After the pensioner’s wife approached the ACB, the officials took up an investigation based on audio records and other evidence and arrested Nagesh on Monday. The accused officer would be produced before the third additional sessions judge for SPE and ACB cases, Warangal, the DSP added.
