Karimnagar: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Tuesday night arrested two officials of the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) and a private employee for accepting bribes from a medical shop owner.
Assistant Director Maryala Srinivasulu, Drugs Inspector Karthik Bhardwaj, and private employee Pulluri Ramu were taken into custody.
According to ACB DSP Vijay Kumar, the Assistant Director and the Inspector had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a medical shop located on Doctors’ Street in the town for issuing an annual inspection report.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the shop owner approached the ACB, which laid a trap and caught the DCA officials on Tuesday night.
Instead of directly accepting the money, the officials sent Ramu to collect it. The ACB team apprehended him while taking the bribe from the complainant in front of Vijetha Hospital on Doctors’ Street.
Based on Ramu’s confession, ACB officials arrested Assistant Director Srinivasulu and Inspector Karthik Bhardwaj at their office in Chaitanyapuri.
