Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a case of criminal misconduct against Vikarabad Women’s Police Station Inspector, B Saroja and her subordinate Sub-Inspector, H Rani for demanding and accepting a bribe last month.
According to the ACB, the Inspector and Sub-Inspector had demanded a bribe of Rs. 60,000 from a family for issuing notices in a criminal case and after negotiations reduced it to Rs. 40,000.
“Already, an amount of Rs. 20,000 was paid through the e-wallet platform to the Sub-Inspector in March. However, the police officials were pestering the family for the remaining Rs. 20,000 following which they complained to the ACB, which registered a case and arrested them,” said an official.
