ACB catches two officials taking Rs 1 lakh bribe in Hyderabad

The ACB on Thursday caught two officials while allegedly accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe for processing medical reimbursement claims under the CMRF scheme. The officials allegedly sought the money to facilitate a sanctioned amount and process the remaining claim.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday caught two government officials while allegedly accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe in connection with the processing of medical reimbursement claims under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) scheme.

According to the ACB, the officials have been identified as A Raghavender, an outsourcing employee at the Telangana Secretariat, and M Vinod, a Senior Assistant at the Telangana State Industrial Development Corporation (TSIDC), Parishram Bhavan in Basheerbagh.

The ACB said Raghavender and Vinod had allegedly demanded and accepted Rs 1 lakh from the complainant for processing and facilitating medical reimbursement claims under the CMRF scheme.

The alleged favour included issuing a cheque for the Rs 2 lakh sanctioned amount and processing the remaining medical reimbursement claim.

ACB officials further alleged that Raghavender had earlier demanded and accepted Rs 5,000 from the complainant through Vinod via a digital transaction.

On Thursday, Vinod allegedly received the bribe from the complainant and handed it over to Raghavender when they were nabbed.

Both officials were produced before the special court for ACB cases and remanded to judicial custody.
