ACB court allows Revanth Reddy to travel abroad in cash-for-vote case

An ACB court has permitted Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to travel abroad from August 17 to September 10 in connection with the 2015 cash-for-vote case. The permission is subject to bail conditions, including submission of travel details and return of his passports.

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court has permitted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the prime accused in the controversial 2015 cash-for-vote case, to travel abroad from August 17 to September 10 with a few conditions.

This was after a petition was filed before the court seeking interim custody of the Chief Minister’s passports from July 23 to October 23 and also sought relaxation of the bail conditions.

The ACB court reportedly granted permission subject to conditions, including execution of a personal bond of Rs.1 lakh with one surety, submission of his overseas addresses and contact details. It also directed him to file an affidavit undertaking to return the passports by September 18.

The petition filed before the court requested permission for the Chief Minister to visit the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany and China from August 17 to September 10.

Revanth Reddy, who was a Telugu Desam Party MLA when the case was registered in 2015, is the prime accused in the cash-for-vote case. The other accused include Bishop Harry Sebastian and R Uday Simha.

The High Court had earlier directed Revanth Reddy to surrender his passport and cooperate with the investigating agency. It also had directed him to file an application before the ACB court whenever he had to travel abroad.
Last time, the Chief Minister had deposited his passports before the court on March 9 this year and the same was sent to Regional Passport Officer, Secunderabad for safe custody.
The Chief Minister is currently in New Delhi. He is expected to meet a couple of union Ministers and discuss pending approvals, sanction of funds and other issues.
