Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a surprise check at the office of the Municipal Commissioner in Dundigal and allegedly found several discrepancies.
Officials stated that there was evidence of bribery through WhatsApp chats involving the town planning supervisor, along with unauthorised financial transactions routed to the supervisor’s husband’s firm. During the visit, the officials also found that an Assistant Municipal Commissioner and five outsourced staff members were absent without authorisation.
The ACB team further found that attendance records of sanitary workers maintained by Sanitary Field Assistants had been manipulated. It was also observed that illegal buildings were allowed to flourish and that second notices were not issued to the owners.
The ACB is verifying the bank statements of the concerned officials to examine the source of credits and ascertain any links to irregularities. Some documents were seized from the office and are being verified.
ACB officials said that a detailed report would be submitted to the government.
