Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is hoping to extract more information on the role of realtors and other Revenue department officials in the Rs 1.10-crore bribe case from former Keesara Tahsildar Erva Balraju Nagaraj, whose custody they got for three days from Tuesday.
This is the second time the ACB is getting custody of Nagaraj, who is now under suspension in a criminal misconduct case booked against him and five others. Barring Nagaraj, all the other arrested persons were released on bail, officials said, adding that the custody of Nagaraj would help the ACB know more about the alleged nexus between a few officials from the Revenue department and realtors and civil contractors.
The names of two other Revenue department officials had also figured during the investigation. Nagaraj allegedly accepted the bribe to clear the land issue pertaining to 19 acres 39 guntas in Rampally Dayara village and to process the file in favour of original pattadars.
“With the information we have collected earlier, we will try to elicit more information about alleged links between Nagaraj and realtors from Rampally village,” an official said.
Nagaraj, along with two realtors Ch Srinath Yadav and K Anji Reddy, was caught on August 14 when a team of ACB officials raided a guesthouse in Kapra. Village Revenue Assistant Bongu Sairaj was also nabbed on the same day. A bribe amount of Rs 1.10 crore was seized during the raid.
Gets 2-day custody of 8 persons
The ACB has got two-day custody of eight persons, who were arrested on charges of fraudulent transaction of a government land with the former Malkajgiri Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Y Narasimha Reddy.
The issue pertained to purchase and sale of 1,960 square yards prime government land in Madhapur. Four more persons allegedly involved in the same case are still absconding. The ACP was arrested in a disproportionate assets case after conducting raids at 25 locations, including his house in Secunderabad. The Madhapur land documents were found during the raids.
