Bhupalpally: The ACB has registered a case of disproportionate assets against Bhupalpally Mines and Geology Department Assistant Director Bojja Jaya Raju, who also holds full additional charge of the department in Warangal.

ACB officials carried out raids at eight locations linked to the accused officer, his relatives and associates in Bhupalpally, Hyderabad and other places on Thursday, following allegations of corruption against him.

During the searches, several property documents and assets worth about Rs 3.06 crore were identified so far. Further verification of additional assets was underway. The market value of the immovable properties was expected to be much higher than their official or documented value.

Jaya Raju was found to own real estate properties in Boduppal, KPHB Colony, Keesara, Thungathurthy, Toopran and Suryapet. He also owned three four-wheelers and two two-wheelers, gold ornaments weighing 629 grams, and had a bank balance of Rs 71.27 lakh in three bank accounts.

Based on information available on the mobile phone of Jaya Raju’s driver, Sattunuri Yadaiah, it was prima facie found that Rs 24.80 lakh was transferred through multiple transactions from the driver’s bank account to the bank account of the officer’s daughter.

The driver stated that the amount was allegedly collected from persons involved in sand transportation and related activities and transferred to Jaya Raju’s daughter’s account. The process of verifying the source, nature and purpose of the transactions was underway, an official release said.
