Adilabad: An accountant was honoured by the police on Monday for helping in the arrest of three thieves who stole Rs 4.15 lakh from him. He risked his life to chase them and record their faces on video even after being assaulted.
Adilabad DSP L Jeevan Reddy and Mavala Inspector K Swamy felicitated Vikas Moje, an accountant from the town, with a shawl for his bravery and quick action, which helped police arrest the culprits. The accused, Jadav Ankush, Munde Sachidanand and Kendre Shankar, were taken into custody following the incident.
On October 7, three unidentified men attacked Vikas at a check-post in Devapur village while he was returning from Echoda mandal centre to Adilabad town. They snatched a bag containing Rs 4.15 lakh and beat him up. Despite the assault, Vikas chased the thieves on a motorbike and recorded their faces on his mobile phone.
Vikas’s courageous act helped the police identify and catch the offenders quickly. Ankush and Sachidanand were arrested on October 9, while the main accused, Shankar, was caught on October 11. “The video clips recorded by Vikas played a key role in identifying and arresting the thieves,” DSP Jeevan Reddy said.
