Hyderabad: Announcing election manifesto for Movie Artistes’ Association elections, senior advocate and character artiste CVL Narasimha Rao on Saturday said he would ensure that the unanimous resolution which was passed 10 years ago, in 2011, be implemented keeping in view the local talent. He further said as proposed in the resolution, a 50-member committee has been constituted and the names would be announced soon in a press conference.
Rao is vying for the MAA president’s post and had filed nomination papers a week ago on the same day Prakash Raj filed his nomination. The elections for MAA will be held on October 10.
Taking note of movie artistes who have been facing severe health problems, Narasimha Rao said all the artistes enrolled in the association would be covered with comprehensive health insurance. “It would be the plan of Rs 3 lakh per annum and MAA would be paying the insurance premium for every member. Actors registered in MAA would get associate membership in Film Nagar Cultural Centre (FNCC) with a nominal fee,” he said.
On pensions that are being provided to artistes, he promised to increase it from Rs 6,000 per month to Rs 10,000 per month. We’re planning to revive the 20-year-old Asara programme that could benefit women artistes who are being exploited in the film industry. A committee has been constituted with 13 members and the details will soon be announced. And the most important thing, any artistes in the industry shouldn’t live seeking alms. MAA will be collaborating with supermarket and just a phone call away, artistes who can afford daily essentials from the supermarket.
