Actor Manchu Lakshmi likely to appear before ED
Actress and producer Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna is set to appear before the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad in connection with the betting app promotion case. The ED has sent notices to 36 film personalities amid investigations into financial losses and illegal betting.
Hyderabad: Actress and producer and television personality Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna is likely to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to record her statement in connection with the betting app case on Wednesday.
The ED, which had recently issued notices to film personalities who promoted betting apps, has also sent notices to Manchu Lakshmi asking her to appear before the investigation team at the ED zonal office in Basheerbagh.
It may be noted that the actor who had earlier acted in an advertisement related to a betting app, was booked by the Cyberabad police along with other noted actors for promoting betting. The ED had started a parallel investigation into the matter based on the FIR.
There are allegations that many people were attracted by the promotion of betting apps by film personalities and incurred huge financial losses, and some even ended their lives.
The ED has sent notices to 36 film personalities so far. Senior actor Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda and Rana Daggubati had already appeared before the ED officials and recorded their statements earlier in connection with the case.
