New Delhi: Actor Randy Quaid expressed his disappointment over the recent announcement of Anne Hathaway’s casting alongside Tom Cruise in “Days of Thunder 2” and said the makers should bring Nicole Kidman back to the film.
Cruise shared a video alongside Hathaway on his X handle on Saturday and said the actor will feature in the next installment of the franchise.
Quaid, who essayed the role of Tim in the original film, shared a post on his X handle and called out Cruise for his decision of casting Hathaway in the film.
“We need Nicole (Kidman) back…You need the original girl. It is not personal; it’s filmmaking. Anne isn’t sexy, because and if you haven’t noticed, she’s pregnant,” he wrote.
“Anne Hathaway is a horrible choice for ‘DAYS OF THUNDER’. It needs to be Nicole. That’s the casting that would sell the idea. It’s interesting because when we made the first one there was also a rush to get it out; editors slept in the cutting room,” he added.
The original film was directed by Tony Scott and revolves around Trickle as he enters the high-stakes world of NASCAR stock car racing.
It released in 1990 and starred Nicole Kidman as Claire Lewicki, Robert as Harry Hogge and John as Buck Bretherton, among others.
The film earned over USD 150 million at the global box office.
The following film will be directed by Jonathan Levine and is produced by Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Tommy Harper.
