Hyderabad: Arjun Reddy fame actress Shalini Pandey has opened up about her disturbing experience while working in the South film industry.
Speaking in an interview with Filmygyan, the actress shared that a director from the South had walked into her vanity van without knocking on the door while she was changing clothes. The actress said that the incident had taught her to establish boundaries very early in her career.
Elaborating on the incident, Shalini said, “I was 22 years old and very new to the industry when this director walked into my van without knocking. The incident shocked me. I was changing, and he just opened the door and entered. I was a girl who had just finished my first film.”
The actress further added, “Usually, when you are very new, people tell you to be very sweet and not rub people the wrong way. They advise you to be sweet, or I’ve been told I won’t get films.” However, Shalini said that she immediately yelled at the director. “Once he left, I was told I shouldn’t have yelled at him,” she added.
The actress, who was last seen in the Netflix web series Dabba Cartel, said, “I was very naive when I first came to the industry. And now I’m glad I was because I had hard boundaries, and I would snap and do certain things to protect myself.” However, she added, “Now I have learned to manipulate such situations rather than just snapping at people.”
Shalini Pandey rose to fame with the Telugu super hit film Arjun Reddy opposite Vijay Deverakonda in 2017 and went on to act in popular Telugu films such as Mahanati and NTR: Kathanayakudu. The actress made her Bollywood debut in 2022 opposite Ranveer Singh in Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
