Adilabad: Seven persons including a woman and two minors were arrested for their alleged involvement in murder of a youngster on September 9. The accused were identified as Mavarapu Rajasekhar (22), Mavarapuru Krishnaveni (21), Mavarapu Chandrasekhar (25), Rodda Sai Kiran (19), Mavarapu Shilaja (19) and two minors, all belonging to different parts of Adilabad town. A crowbar, trolley, motorcycle and seven mobile phones were recovered from their possession. The victim was Burathkar Chaitanya (22), a native of Makoda village in Jainath mandal.

Producing them before the media here on Friday, Adilabad in-charge SP M Rajesh Chandra said, during the investigation, Krishnaveni confessed to committing the crime with the help of her husband Rajasekhar and five family members to get rid of Chaitanya who was stalking and harassing her in the name of love.

Krishnaveni admitted that she invited him to her residence citing her husband was not present and then eliminated him by hitting him on the head with a crowbar and sticks. She disclosed that they dumped the body and burnt it by dousing it with petrol at a quarry at Pangidi Pippiri village in Talamadugu mandal. Family members of Chaitanya lodged a missing complaint. Some locals spotted the charred body on September 14. Talamadugu Sub-Inspector P Divya Bharati registered a case and took up investigations.

Krishnaveni revealed that Chaityanya befriended her when she was undergoing some training under Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana in Adilabad in 2018 and was insisting to marry him since then. Rajesh Chandra commended Adilabad DSP Venkateshwar Rao, Rural Inspector K Purushottam Chary and SI Divya Bharati for solving the mystery behind the murder. Mavala Sub-Inspector Haribabu, Adilabad Sub-Inspector G Apparao, Mavala Assistant SI Gandrath Gangadhar, Talamadugu Head Constable K Rajanna, constables K Venkat Rao and Devender were present.
